Walter Cronkite RIP
Newscaster Icon Walter Cronkite died today at age 92, but he was not just a newscaster. He was someone America and the world trusted for news, as President Obama would say “long before websites, blogs or other forms of media”. CBS was his home, and he was the king of news. He was sincere, he was genuine. He was most famous for having tears in his eyes when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated, and when the US Astronauts landed on the moon… he continued well into the 21st century with documentaries on wildlife. However, you cannot think of American news from the latter half of the 20th century (1961-1981) without knowing his voice or name. If nothing else, he is a part of retro-pop culture, if nothing more than a colossal news icon of the 20th Century, “A Giant” as many say.
As he would say, “And thats the way it is, July 17, 2009″…
